E-COMMERCE WEBSITES

An online shop built around your products.

Give customers a clear route from finding the right product to placing an order. StepOnline builds online shops with thoughtful product pages, straightforward navigation and a checkout checked before launch.

A tailored quote, an agreed scope and direct contact with your designer.

FROM PRODUCT TO ORDER

Find it. Understand it. Order it.

Your catalogue, payment options and delivery process should work together. The project starts with how your business sells and what your customers need.

  • Products organised for easy browsing
  • Clear information before checkout
  • Practical tools to manage orders

A BETTER BUYING EXPERIENCE

Make every step easier to follow.

Help customers find it

Organise products into useful categories, with navigation and agreed filters that suit the size and structure of your catalogue.

Give them the details

Bring together product photographs, descriptions, prices and relevant options, so customers can understand what they are buying.

Keep checkout clear

Make the basket, delivery choices and payment steps easy to follow. The agreed purchase journey is tested before launch.

WHAT WE CAN BUILD

The right features for your shop.

The exact features and initial product upload are confirmed in your quote. A focused shop can start simply; more complex catalogues can include additional integrations.

Your catalogue

  • Product categories and individual product pages
  • Product images and descriptions supplied by you
  • Sizes, colours and other agreed variations
  • Search and filters suited to your catalogue
  • Mobile, tablet and desktop layouts

Your orders

  • Basket and checkout setup
  • Connection to an agreed payment provider
  • Delivery zones, rates or a compatible delivery integration
  • Order notification emails
  • Product, stock and order administration

WordPress with WooCommerce is an option for shops that need straightforward day-to-day administration. Platform choice and any custom development are agreed around the project requirements.

PAYMENTS & DELIVERY

Set up for the way you sell.

Payment setup

Connect a supported payment provider and check the agreed payment flow. You hold the payment account, complete the provider’s verification and receive payments directly.

Provider approval, transaction fees and any subscriptions are handled separately.

Delivery setup

Set up the delivery rules agreed for your products and service area. Where required, a compatible courier plugin can connect the shop to your delivery service.

Courier contracts, plugin licences and more complex shipping rules are confirmed before implementation.

SCOPE BEFORE PRICE

A quote based on your actual requirements.

A small catalogue and a shop connected to stock, invoicing or supplier systems involve different amounts of work. Your quote sets out what is included, what you need to provide and the estimated delivery schedule.

Tell us what you need

  • What you sell and how many products need adding
  • Any product variations, subscriptions or special rules
  • Your preferred payment and delivery services
  • Existing products or data that need importing
  • Any invoicing, stock or supplier integrations

Know what is agreed

  • Pages, shop features and initial upload limits
  • Design approach and content responsibilities
  • Review stages and included revision rounds
  • Integration scope and launch checks
  • Price, estimated timeline and any ongoing costs

Domain registration, hosting, third-party licences, payment fees, copywriting and ongoing maintenance are separate unless explicitly included in your written quote. Advertising and ongoing SEO are not included by default.

HOW THE PROJECT RUNS

Agreed steps. Careful checks.

01 — Plan the shop

Discuss your products, customers and order process. Agree the scope, responsibilities, cost and estimated timeline before work starts.

02 — Build the experience

Set up the shop, adapt the design to your brand and add the agreed product content. You review the work at the agreed stages.

03 — Test the journey

Check the agreed product options, basket, checkout, payment outcomes, delivery calculations and order emails, including the mobile experience.

04 — Launch and hand over

Launch after approval and walk you through managing products and orders. Confirm any follow-up work and support arrangements.

Timely product information, account access and feedback help keep the project on schedule. Changes affecting the price or delivery date are discussed before additional work begins.

SUPPORT AFTER LAUNCH

The launch is a beginning, not a goodbye.

As your range changes, you may need new products, different delivery rules or additional features. You can return to StepOnline for help with the next update.

Minor alterations

Small adjustments may be free, depending on the request and the work involved. Send the details first and we will confirm whether there is a charge.

Further development

New features, substantial design changes and additional integrations are quoted separately. Scope, cost and timing are agreed before paid work begins.

Ongoing maintenance, software updates and priority support are separate arrangements. Response times and availability are confirmed when support is agreed.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you start selling online.

How much does an e-commerce website cost?

The price depends on the catalogue, initial product upload, design requirements and integrations. Share your requirements and you will receive a quote with the included work and separate costs clearly identified.

Can I manage products and orders myself?

Yes. The handover covers the agreed shop administration tasks, such as adding products, updating prices and reviewing orders. More extensive training or ongoing administration can be arranged separately.

Do you add all of my products?

The number of products and any variations included in the initial upload are agreed in your quote. You supply the product details and images. Data imports depend on the quality and compatibility of the source file.

Can you connect my payment provider and courier?

Compatibility is checked before the integration is agreed. You provide the required accounts and access. Provider approvals, transaction charges, courier contracts and external subscriptions remain separate.

What do I need to provide?

Business details, product data, prices, images, delivery rules and the customer-facing policies relevant to your shop. The agreed supplied policies can be added to the site; legal drafting and compliance advice are not part of the development service.

Can you improve or replace an existing shop?

Yes, subject to a review of the current setup. Any migration of products, customers, orders or URLs is assessed and scoped before work starts.

Are SEO and advertising included?

Only the search setup explicitly listed in your quote is included. Ongoing SEO, product feeds, advertising integrations and campaign management can be discussed separately. A new shop does not guarantee traffic or sales.

What happens if I need changes after launch?

Contact StepOnline with the request. Minor alterations may be free after assessment, while larger updates are quoted in advance. Ongoing maintenance and priority support require a separate agreement.
